Point Reyes was one of the first places in California that I fell in love with when we moved out here, nearly thirteen years ago. And every time I go back I fall in love with it all over again. This time...there was something different that was sparked within me while we were there. And maybe, by the time you finish looking through the pictures and reading, something will "spark" within you as well.
On the drive to the coast, we came upon this old truck. I am fascinated with old, abandoned vehicles that seem to have found their way into becoming a permanent piece of the countryside. When we came to an intersection and I saw this, I couldn't resist pulling over and jumping out of the car!
And then...we came to this little town called Inverness where I saw this little 'ol boat that for some odd reason was "docked" on land. This was as close as I got, but I think that the next time I take a trip to the beach I will stop again and get a little closer.
Once we reached the Lighthouse, we ate our Subway sandwiches and began out little "jaunt" to the station.
The weather was perfect!!! A tad windy at first, but that's kind of to be expected.
Nick wanted to bet me $20.00 that he could run to the top..up all 308 steps, without stopping. I'm no fool, so I took the bet...he made it further than I thought he would...stopping about half way...but still had a smile on his face!!!
After we were done at the Lighthouse, we decided to stop at "South Beach" which was a great decision!
So this was when the most amazing thing happened...
My son is such a happy kid! Seriously...I don't know where he has "learned" this behavior or how he does it. But he is happy...99.9% of the time. Always smiling, cracking jokes, or laughing at himself. He is just happy!!!
Look at these pictures...
While I was taking these pictures, I was overwhelmed with the joy that he was experiencing at this very moment. I see him "happy" most of the time.

I haven't seen him overflowing with joy and pure child-like excitement like he did at the beach in quite some time. It was so refreshing...and wonderful!
To look at the ocean waves, laugh, and say "Show me what you've got!"

...to laugh so hard that you have tears streaming down your face...
It was amazing...and convicting all at the same time.

To think that God gives us the ability to live our lives like this every day...
and God gives us the world that He created for us to enjoy.
Yet how often to we miss seeing the "gift?"
...how often do we forget to throw our hands up in the air and say, "I'm having the time of my life!"
...how often do we neglect to throw our hands up in the air and say, "Thank you, God!"

Fantastic pictures...I think the one of the horse is my favorite...or the sunflowers I can't decide.
Something did spark in me, though not from the coast. Your son's grin is what did it. It reminds me of the part of me that is still a boy who just wants to have a good time. I need to let him out more. :)
