Mother's Day - Part II

I'm going to share something funny that happened to me LAST Mother's Day. Typically on special days, I will stop at the floral department and grab some flowers for my mom. Last year Nick was with me and he asked if he could get grandma a flower too. I thought it was a sweet thing for him to do, so I let him pick one out for her, he chose a single rose. As we walked in to my parents' house, I asked him if he was going to give her the flower, he looked at me and said, "It's not for her, it's for you." Immediately, we both busted up and laughed hysterically. He is so flipping funny at times. (actually, he's funny most of the time...he gets it "honest!")

There are certain people in my life that know how much I'm struggling right now. Trying to get a grasp on "what to do next" in this crazy cycle of parenting.

In the "God's Little Instruction Book for Mom" I found a few more quotes that present a tiny glimpse of insight.
"Never, never be too proud to say, "I'm sorry," to your child when you've made a mistake."

"Never despair of a child. The one you weep the most for at the mercy-seat may fill your heart with the sweetest joys." T.L. Cuyler

"A torn jacket is soon mended; but hard words bruise the heart of a child." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Children are likely to live up to what you believe in them." Lady Bird Johnson

"If there is anything we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could be better changed in ourselves." C.G. Jung

"We need to be patient with our children in the same way God is patient with us." Renee Jordan

"You can do everything else right as a parent, but if you don't begin with loving God, you're going to fail." Alvin Vander Griend

"Parents must get across the idea that, "I love you always, but sometimes I do not love your behavior."" Amy Vanderbilt

"Every word and deed of a parent is a fiber woven into the character of a child that ultimately determines how that child fits into the fabric of society." David Wilkerson

"Your children learn more of your faith during the bad times than they do during the good times." Beverly LaHaye

"Remember, when your child has a tantrum, don't have one of your own." Dr. J. Kuriansky

Today we ventured to Spenceville, which is a Wildlife Refuge just outside of Yuba City. I've wanted to check this place out for a while now, and for Mother's Day I got my wish.

Josh and his girlfriend Marti spent the afternoon with us. They are SO CUTE!!!!

Nick put on grandpa's hat and looked way too adorable:

This was the start of the hike:

There were so many different types of wildflowers. I was drawn to whatever this was. Loved the color.

We hiked back to the waterfall, which has several different names, but we're going to refer to it as "Beale Falls."

I absolutely love these pictures of my dad...

It was a GREAT way to spend the afternoon, and the BEST way to spend Mother's Day!!!
I'm absolutely exhausted, so I'm calling it a night!
